Dental insurance can be both a blessing and a curse, as is medical insurance. Certainly, you are lucky if you have some kind of benefits to help with your dental treatment. Sometimes though, dental insurance may somewhat inconvenience you in order to get the best benefits. If your dentist and the office manager do not understand the intricacies of your dental insurance you could stand to lose benefits and have to pay more out of your pocket.

A perfect example of this was my recent trip to my dermatologist. I come from a very freckly family, and we all go for annual checkups to make sure that there are no moles that need to be removed. When I went to my dermatologist, he did find something that that he didn’t think was important, but wanted to remove it anyway. I told him that I had the time if he had the time and to just go ahead and do it then and there. Because he knew about my medical insurance, he told me that it would be to my benefit to come back for another appointment to have it removed because my medical insurance will not pay to have these moles removed on the same day of the examination.

Does it make sense? Not at all. Was I happy to hear that he could make the most out of medical benefits and less out of pocket for me? Absolutely.

The same is true in our dental office in Bay Village. We work very hard to get the most benefits out of your dental plan. Our office manager, Joyce, regularly speaks to insurance companies and has a real knack for determining what the best way to accomplish treatment is in order for you to get the most benefit.

Don’t lose your benefits. If you don’t use your benefits by the end of the year, this year’s benefits will be gone forever. Call us today for a free consultation at 440-892-1810 and let’s see how we can help you maximize your benefits. We love to give people a very beautiful, healthy smile.
