Dental Implants

Whether you need one implant to replace a single missing tooth or want to replace several teeth, dental implants look and feel like your natural teeth. Even if you need to replace teeth in the very front of your mouth, you can count on implants to look and perform like your own teeth.

When we perform implant dentistry, we attach a tiny titanium cylinder to your upper or lower jawbone. Even if your jaws have lost much of their bone density, we can usually find a solution.

After we place the implant into your jawbone, the bone heals around it for several months, fusing around the titanium to provide all the stability needed for your new tooth. And yes, dental implants are typically strong enough to support several teeth when needed.

Dentures With Mini-Implants

If you have missing teeth, you’re not limited to choosing between implants and dentures. Have you heard about mini-implant dentures that combine the best of both procedures?

With dentures using mini-implants, a tiny titanium implant replaces the root of the missing tooth. A retaining fixture attached to the denture keeps it in place, moving flexibly as needed with the motions of your mouth.

The MDI System we place at our office is formed of two parts. The first part is the tiny titanium implant that replaces the root of the tooth. That’s held on by a retaining fixture that is affixed to the denture itself. Though the denture is strong enough to handle lifting and pressing forces in the mouth, it’s still flexible enough to allow it to rest gently and make small movements.

At The Healthy Smile, we use the IMTEC MDI System. With this system, you can visit our office and walk out with customized dentures in two hours or less, ready to talk, laugh and eat in comfort.

This version of dental implants is an ideal choice for those whose mouths can’t handle more invasive implants, including people whose bone density isn’t adequate for traditional implants. Dentures with mini-implants are also an excellent choice after tooth extraction because the related procedure of Advanced Extraction Therapy helps prevent further bone loss.
